Awaiting Moderation

Just a short post, to let you all know that WordPress has decided to put all my comments into ‘awaiting moderation’, at least on most blogs that I follow. I have no idea why, perhaps I have inadvertently upset someone, but I am commenting. You will just have to find the comments somewhere, I suspect.

Best wishes to all. Pete.

  1. As July got underway, the temperatures here began to climb into the zone of physical discomfort. Up to 111 F (43.9 C). So we collectively demanded that Mother Nature put a damper on Mr. Hot Stuff by sending in Miss Monsoon. Due to the threatening nature of some of these desperate demands, they had to be screened for content. As a result, the immediate response from Mother Nature was that our comments were “awaiting moderation” (including my comment that began, “Sunny Boy needs a swift kick in the arse!”). In the end, though, our comments were processed, Mr. Hot Stuff backed off, and Miss Monsoon began paying visits here. A sprinkle of rain here, a drop in the mercury there. Mother Nature had no real problem with our temperamental demands, but we suspect Mr. Hot Stuff, who has a special relationship with her, threw a major temper tantrum. And so, even though Mother Nature felt somewhat compelled to cooperate with the suffering throng in the desert, her sympathy towards Mr. Hot Stuff dictated that she moderate our demands for content.

    1. I think it is a glitch and there seems no way to do anything about configuration and that must be because it’s Akismet’s problem to sort out. Infuriating. If you look at your Akismet Stats, you’ll see at the bottom of that page a sentence that says they call such comments ‘ham’ when they’re mistakenly identified as spam. Just to confuse us. Apart from contacting WP, I can’t think of any way to get it sorted.

  2. It seems to be Akismet that’s having a problem. I got your first two comments on FNH without a problem but have just had to approve the comment on Bloch and it says at the top of the comment page (admin):

‘Akismet has detected a problem. Some comments have not yet been checked for spam by Akismet. They have been temporarily held for moderation. Please check your Akismet configuration and contact your web host if problems persist.’

I shall check the configuration but is it happening on other sites or just FNH?
